All Years

Do some soul searching. What are your gifts? Interests? Values? Get to know your professors personally. Explore the resources available at the CAP Center. Seek summer employment related to your interests. Get involved in extra-curricular activities related to your interets.

Freshmen

Enroll in general education courses to discover new academic interests. Consider several academic majors. Find out what you enjoy. Declare a major!

Sophomores

If you haven't declared a major, enroll in Career Perspectives and the World of Work. Develop leadership skills by leading a student organization. set up an internship related to your interests. Declare a major!

Juniors

Ask to be involved in a professor's research project or become a tutor in your major. Develop some job search tools. Explore graduate school programs.

Seniors

Decide whether you want to:

Work on becoming employed

• Prepare resumes and cover letters.
• Request letters of reference.
• Rehearse job interviews.
• Learn how to network.

Apply to graduate school

• Check all deadlines.
• Take graduate exams (GRE, LSAT, MCAT, MBAT, etc.).
• Write application essays.
• Complete applications and submit before deadlines.
