Jens Lindemann Master Class Graceland University is proud to announce that it will host world-famous trumpeter, Jens Lindemann on Friday, October 19th in a Master Class and in concert Friday and Saturday evenings, October 19 & 20, 2012, sponsored by the Graceland Music Department, the DEKKO “Ignite your Spark Fund” and the Graceland MENC (Music Educators National Conference) Student Chapter #570. The Jens Lindemann Master Class is designed to provide special access to an artist who has been declared “The World’s Greatest Trumpet Player.” With a capacity for 150 students and educators, this event invites middle school, high school and university level students from various states in the Midwest. Pride of Iowa Band Festival On February 19, 2013, the Graceland Music Department will host the Pride of Iowa Conference Honor Band Festival and Concert, which includes 12 schools from more than nine counties. Through the honor band festival, the POI Conference provides a showcase for the best student musicians the conference band programs have to offer. The first POI honor band on record was held in 1989 at Mt. Ayr High School in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. Since then, the festival has moved from school to school through the conference, giving each school the opportunity to host. The Graceland Music Department is honored to host this wonderful festival. Concert performance will be on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Shaw Family Auditorium, Shaw Center, Graceland University. Admission is $5.
Trombone Day at Graceland Workshop and Concert! On Saturday, March 9, 2013, the Graceland Music Department will host the Fourth Annual Trombone Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drawing close to 30 participants each year, Trombone Day is geared to increase the awareness, education and appreciation for the trombone through master classes, rehearsals, recitals and a trombone choir concert featuring all the workshops' participants.
Clinicians will include Prof. Frank Perez, Director of Bands, Graceland University, Dr. Lee Bash, Music Specialist, Graceland University and Dr. John Benoit, Trombone Professor, Simpson College. BAC Horn Dr. from Olathe, Kansas and Rieman Music from Des Moines, Iowa will bring instruments for students to play and tryout, as well as many books and supplies.
The Graceland Music Department invites middle school, high school and collegiate trombone students to attend. Admission costs $15, which includes lunch. Click here to register!

Cancelled: Woodwind Day at Graceland Workshop and Concert
Piano/Keyboard Camp Graceland University hosts a piano camp every summer and is open to students of all ages. At the camp, students can study both piano and pipe organ. IMTA Auditions Each January, IMTA piano auditions are held at Graceland. Piano students of all ages from the surrounding communities are able to attend. It is a great opportunity for performance and reviews.
