Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) to R.N. Program

Admissions Information

Transfer in 65 semester hours and earn a B.S.N. in 18 months! The Nursing curriculum is carefully designed to integrate professional education with liberal arts and sciences. The program accommodates students beginning their education in nursing as well as students eligible for advanced placement. Graduates are prepared to provide nursing care in hospital and community health settings where beginning professional competence is expected.

As a student of Graceland University you will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. With a B.S.N. you will be eligible for a multitude of opportunities in the health care arena.

Our B.S.N. program is offered through our campus in Independence, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City and less than two hours south of the Graceland home campus in Lamoni, Iowa.

Every June a new group of 50 nursing students begin their program as sophomores and complete three courses in an eight week term. Students are recognized as juniors and welcomed as full time students in the fall semester at the Matriculation Ceremony.

Success

Graduating classes of the past several years have achieved an average pass rate of 94% on the NLCEX (national R.N. licensure) exam.

Two pathways into the program:

You may complete your lower division general education courses at other colleges and transfer those credits into Graceland University. A total of 65 s.h. are required to enter the nursing program. Once you enroll in the nursing program, you will only be taking nursing courses.
You may complete your freshman and sophomore years on the residential campus at Graceland University’s home campus in Lamoni, IA. Students enjoy a true university experience living in residence halls and attending a variety of activities. The Lamoni campus provides a diverse cultural experience for students from many countries.

Following your sophomore year in Lamoni, you will attend classes in nursing on the Independence, MO campus and graduate in December of the next year. You will make new friends as you join with students from the area to form a new cohort in the nursing program.

Graceland University School of Nursing takes pride in developing graduates who are intelligent and caring professionals. Students internalize caring values and foster ethical practice. Successful achievement in the humanities is basic to understanding the whole person and his/her response in health and illness. According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, courses in the arts, sciences, and humanities provide a forum for the study of values, ethical principles, and the physical world as well as opportunities to reflect and apply knowledge gained to professional practice. A liberal education promotes critical thinking, the basis for clinical judgment and ethical decision-making. You will learn the art and science of nursing through a combination of liberal arts and science courses in the B.S.N. degree program at Graceland University.
