College is an important time in life. It is a time of professional and intellectual development. It is also a time in which we explore who we are and grow in relationship to God and others.
Graceland Campus Ministries recognizes that the journey through college is time to grow in faith and deepen our relationship with God. It is a time to question, deepen understandings of ourselves and the world, as well as learn how we make a difference. Campus Ministries works alongside Graceland faculty, staff, student organizations and community leaders to provide the relationships and experiences that integrate our professional, intellectual and spiritual journey through college. The uniqueness of the Graceland experience is the chance to unite study and faith, to get the best of a liberal arts education alongside the call to grow in Christian discipleship, service to others and our relationship with God.
Graceland Campus Ministries seeks to integrate the whole person in the journey of academic, professional and spiritual growth. Faith development follows personal, vocational and social development. Graceland offers diverse individuals and communities the opportunity to grow by study and faith.
Along with Christian scripture, we see ourselves and all creation on a spiritual journey with God. No two people or communities are in exactly the same place on that journey, nor do we all come by identical routes. Still, we believe God’s Spirit and purpose carries each one and calls us to new purposes, new service and new understanding together.
Graceland celebrates that we are an international community represented by many lands and a variety of denominations, faith traditions and religious experience. As an institution of higher education, Graceland University shares its heritage with its sponsoring denomination, Community of Christ. Currently, roughly forty percent of Graceland’s students come from that faith tradition. However, the Graceland congregation is a diverse, dynamic community that strives to be relevant and welcoming to all. While the majority of Graceland students are Christian in background, Graceland Campus Ministries is ecumenical in scope and promotes inclusive interfaith interaction and dialogue. All are a part of our on-campus family of faith. Every student, athlete, musician, faculty member and staff person – regardless of faith – is invited and encouraged to be involved in the religious life program at Graceland University.
Some of our programs include: House Chaplaincy Program, Worship Ministries, Peace and Justice Ministries, Wholeness Ministries, Ecumenical Ministries and Pastoral Care & Counseling.
The Community of Christ Leadership Program (CCLP) is a cooperative effort between Graceland University and Community of Christ. It is designed to create an intentional track for persons desiring to pursue their giftedness in ministry and church leadership.
The CCLP exists to develop high-caliber, well-rounded students who desire to serve in present and future leadership roles within Community of Christ.
