August 28, 2008Lamoni, IA-The Yellowjacket men's soccer team embarked on a 5 day journey out to the beautiful sunshine of California on Wednesday morning. After arriving at the airport following a long flight, the men's team headed to the first place everyone would expect to go in California, THE BEACH! After hitting the surf, the Jackets would begin trudging through the bedlam that is LA traffic and head towards Graceland alum and Soccer complex name sake John Rasmussen's house for a little BBQ. Following a very enjoyable evening of eating and games, the team knew they had to finish the final steps of their journey for the night and head to Community of Christ campground Camp Buckhorn, or as known by many in Graceland soccer "The original Razz." What a drive it was through the steep and curvey mountain roads. Finally however, the team had reached their destination Camp Buckhorn. Sleeping was no issue for anyone on the trip as traveling for almost twenty consecutive hours will wear a person down. After awaking this morning to a delicious breakfast provided by the very hospitable Camp Buckhorn staff, the soccer team headed out for a light team morning jog and was then able to get some relaxation time in. Provided are pictures of the events so far in California. Tonight the team will be holding a light practice before they kick off their season tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm pacific time (3pm central time) vs. Westmont on the campus of Azusa Pacific.
