Lincoln, NE-After enjoying a very successful cross country season, sophomore trackster Neil Grundman (Croswell, MI) has taken his show indoors. On Friday the entire Graceland track team traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska for the University of Nebraska's "Holiday Inn Invitational."
Many Yellowjackets performed well at the Invitational but it was Grundman who continues to re-write the Graceland record books with his incredible long distance running. Neil shattered the Graceland 5000 meter run record running it in an astounding 15:01.44 finishing in third place behind two NCAA Division I athletes both from the University of Nebraska. His time was only 23 seconds off the pace and broke the previous Graceland mark set by current Jacket assistant Coach Danny Alvarado of 15:11.17. Grundman's time also put him well past the required qualifying time for the NAIA National Indoor Meet held in Johnson City, Tennessee in early March.
Justin Gibbs (Kansas City, MO) also ran well at the meet qualifying for the 60 meter dash final running a time of 7.15 which was good enough for 15th place at this very competitive meet.
