HAAC Indoor Results
Lamoni, IA-It was a fine weekend in Lamoni at the conference meet for both the men's and women's teams. The men's team finished the meet in 2nd place and the women in a respectful 6th. On top of the team accolades, there were many personal awards handed out. Sophomore Neil Grundman (Croswell, MI) was honored as "athlete of the meet" and Head Coach Kent Allshouse was named coach of the year for the sixth time in his career.
The Jackets also sported many individual winners at the meet. Grundman won the 5k, the 3k and the mile and Ben Brummit (Unionville, MO) broke the meet record for the heptathalon. Graceland dominated the men's heptathalon as a Jacket athlete finished in all of the first four places.
"I couldn't be more proud of both teams," stated Coach Allshouse after the event had completed. "Every athlete worked hard and has done everything asked out of them to get where we are. On top of that, being named coach of the year is just icing on the cake. Really, it's a tribute to Coach Marcus Kious and Daniel Alvarado as well as all the athletes and how hard they've worked this year. It's been an exciting season to this point and we should be able to continue that as we direct our attention to the national meet," finished Coach Allshouse.
The Jackets will be participating in the NAIA national indoor meet in Johnson City, Tennessee March 5th-7th. Stay tuned to the Jacket athletics website for continuing coverage of the track teams and all of Jacket athletics.
