Live Results @ Nationals
Johnson City, TN-The indoor track team is in Johnson City, Tennessee all weekend for the NAIA Indoor National Meet. Unfortunately for the Jackets, it hasn't gone as scripted as injuries have plagued the entire trip.
The meet opened Thursday with star heptathlete Ben Brummit (Unionville, MO) injuring his hamstring and being forced to withdraw from the event. Friday the Jackets had James Thomas (Orlando, FL) competing in the 60m dash, Justin Gibbs (Raytown, MO) in the 400m run and the 60m, Neil Grundman (Croswell, MI) in the 5k and freshman Mwale Kapande (Mt. Pleasant, IA) in the long jump. Gibbs and Grundman were both unable to finish their prospective events due to injuries. Thomas ran a 7.05 in the 60 meter but was unable to advance. Gibbs pulled up with an injury during the 60 meter and then wasn't able to compete in the 400. Grundman, midrace had to pull out of the 5k due to an injury and the Jackets only female at nationals, Mwale Kapande, jumped 5.24 meters in the prelims of the long jump but was unable to advance.
