Lamoni, IA-Set for a big four game weekend series with Baker in which the winner had the inside track to a playoff berth, Graceland hosted Baker on a very cold late April day. Saturday was also a very special day for the baseball team as they honored Mr. Ray Chase. Chase, the name sake of the Jackets new field, has provided the generous donation that has revitalized North Park and given Graceland one of the finest ball fields in the conference. Chase threw out the first pitch and was given both an autographed team photo and a jersey with his name on the back. That part of the day was one the Graceland family will never forget, unfortunately the rest of the day didn't go as scripted.
In game one Saturday the Jackets got an outstanding performance from pitcher Koa Kaleo (Pearl City, HI) who gave up only two runs through seven innings. The Jacket offense went cold though and Graceland lost, 2-0.
In game two, things really went awry as Baker scored nine runs capitalizing off of 5 Jacket errors and two passed balls. The Wildcats ended up winning going away, 9-4.

Baldwin City, KS-After being swept in Lamoni on Saturday, the Jackets needed a sweep of Baker in Baldwin City Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive. Graceland did win game 1, 6-1 but was unable to pull it out in game 2, falling 2-1. Unfortunately, the loss all but eliminated the Jackets from a playoff spot in the HAAC tournament.
The Jackets now stand at 16-22 in HAAC play and 18-29 overall. They'll round out the season this Tuesday in Olathe, KS when they'll face the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers in a 1pm double header. Stay tuned to the Jacket athletics website for continuing coverage of the baseball team and all of Jacket athletics.
