Des Moines, IA-The Graceland women's soccer team soundly defeated Grand View University 4-0 on Saturday.
The Jackets led off the game aggressively and took control as Juniors Shay Eskridge (Rowlett, TX) and reigning HAAC Player of the Year, Chelsea Phillips (Grenada Hills, CA) both notched goals in the first period.
Graceland remained on the offensive throughout the second half, adding a goal each from freshman Sutherland West (Marion, IA) and Sara Mancini (Milton, ON).
A stout Jacket defense around senior keeper Lisa Danner (Raytown, MO) stymied the Grand View attack, as Graceland remains unscored upon during regulation this season.
"Graceland once again dominated the play, just as they did last weekend, but this time we capitalized on our chances," said Coach Fred Wagenaar. "Our team gelled together and our passing was superb. The scoring was spread around, because this game was a real team effort."
The Jackets improve to 1-0-2 and continue on the road with with two days of play in Chicago, IL, taking on Saint Xavier on Saturday, September 12th and Robert Morris on the 13th.
