Lamoni, IA-The Graceland basketball women were victorious in their home opener over the St. Louis College of Pharmacy 103-34. The women's basketball squad dominated play in the midday match to kick off their 2009-2010 campaign with a bang.
Graceland controlled the tempo of the game from the outset, and the Eutectics could not find their stroke in what few opportunities the Jacket defense afforded them. Graceland was 47-84 from the floor against a 14-50 clip managed by their opponents.
Senior guard Alex Pinney (Schulenburg, TX) led scoring for Graceland with 22 points (9-15 FG), and led the team with 2-3 shots from three point range. Senior forward Keturah Spotwood (Tulsa, OK) led the team in rebound with 11, while adding 21 points of her own (9-14 FG, 3-5 FT), while fellow veteran forward Marisa Rauss provided 20 points of offense, going 10-13 from the field.
The Jackets stand at 1-0 overall and will face Ashford University in Lamoni this Tuesday, November 3, at 6:00 pm. Stay tuned to the Jacket athletics website for continuing coverage of the women's basketball and all of Jacket athletics.
