Careers at Graceland

Graceland University is a generative space not only for student education but also my own goals as a faculty member. GU has a really diverse body of students. What I love about GU domestic students is that they're really helpful, warm, and welcoming so international students find a community as soon as they get to GU. Same is true for the faculty. The generosity and curiosity of the faculty members remains truly unmatched. Even as a new faculty member, I felt welcomed and valued.

My colleagues and students at Graceland University have continued to inspire me to not only follow through on, but also reimagine my professional goals. I’ve had the privilege of leading a team of diverse student tutors that have helped expand my understanding of what learning, and community can look like. At Graceland, I’ve also been able to collaborate with dedicated faculty and staff on the crafting and implementation of a robust academic support network. Whether I’m in the classroom, at a faculty meeting, or leading the way at the tutoring center, I always feel that I’m also on the edge of something exciting, vital, bigger than myself.

I have found Graceland instrumental in helping me meet both my personal and career goals. The supportive institutional community has allowed me not only to offer students hands-on experiences and academic knowledge but also to collaborate with faculty. This environment has been instrumental in my teaching because my discipline has a great deal of emphasis on creativity, collaboration, inclusive leadership, and culturally competent viewpoints so that I can leverage varied perspectives into class discussions, assignments, and projects.

Starting my academic career at Graceland University has been one of the best decisions I've made, as it provides me with opportunities to grow and supports my endeavors. With an international background, my value in diversity, equity, and inclusion are perfectly aligned with those of Graceland. Professors like myself feel more comfortable and happy in an environment where diversity and inclusion are high priorities. Students of all backgrounds are more likely to participate in classroom activities and engage with a diverse faculty. This exchange of views extends beyond academics and enriches our educational experience.

My career at Graceland has offered me a wealth of valuable experiences and opportunities to work with diverse, open minded students and faculty. Outside of the workplace, I’ve found that the Graceland community shares in a comradery to engage in productive and personable social activities. These experiences combined have allowed me to continually grow in my personal life, as well as my career goals to adapt to the ever-changing digital media industry and provide students with an education that endures.
