Graceland University Assistant Professor of Theology and Scripture, and Paul E. Morden Seminary Chair of Religion Tony Chvala-Smith, PhD, gave a lecture titled “Listening to the Dead: the Theological Past and the Postmodern Future.” Chvala-Smith was the featured presenter in a month-long online series sponsored by Community of Christ’s Eastern Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic Mission Centers July 14. Participants accessed the lecture both on Zoom and Facebook Live. The lecture explored the relevance of ancient, medieval and modern theological traditions (represented by Ambrose of Milan, Francis of Assisi, Julian of Norwich, Karl Barth and Evelyn Underhill) to postmodern political and spiritual struggles.
