As part of President Joel Shrock’s inauguration, the Graceland University Advancement team launched the Do Good for Graceland campaign, an initiative to support the President’s Fund for Excellence. This ambitious campaign aimed to raise $1 million to enable President Shrock to make immediate and impactful changes that enhance the student experience.
The campaign received a significant boost thanks to a generous lead pledge of $200,000 from Tee Ness ’75 and Deborah “Debbie” Hawthorne ’75 Ness. Their remarkable support set the tone for this initiative, inspiring others to join in strengthening Graceland’s future.
But doing good for Graceland extends far beyond financial contributions. This campaign challenges alumni and friends of the university to contribute in meaningful ways that build community and create opportunity. Whether it’s referring prospective students to Graceland, mentoring current students, offering career advice through the GU4U network, or serving on the Alumni Board, these acts of service empower Gracelanders to thrive on campus and beyond.
Additionally, the campaign highlights opportunities for alumni to reconnect with campus life. Whether guest lecturing, supporting athletic teams, or participating in events, these efforts create stronger bonds between the past and present generations of Gracelanders, ensuring the university continues to thrive.
The Do Good for Graceland campaign reminds us that Graceland’s strength lies in its people. The roots of connection between alumni, friends, and the university create the foundation for new opportunities to take shape. By coming together, we not only honor the traditions that have defined Graceland but also ensure its growth for generations to come. It is this enduring network of support that keeps Graceland moving forward with purpose and possibility.
