Graceland University Associate Professor of Biology Mary Shawgo, PhD, and her Biology senior research students attended and presented their senior capstone research at the Iowa Academy of Science 132nd annual meeting held virtually on Friday April 23, 2021. About 100 participants attended this event by presenting a poster or an oral presentation.
Biology and Chemistry double major Lori Breece presented her research entitled, “Escherichia coli Transformed with ChiA1 Could Have Antifungal Activity against Candida tropicalis”.
Biology major Kelsey Thompson presented her research entitled, “Honey’s Ability to Treat Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria”.
Biology majors, Kennedy Warner and Landon Hampton, mentored by Teri Foster, Pharm.D. presented their research entitled, “Effects of Masks on Physiological and Psychological Markers”.
