27 years ago, first-year faculty member Gary Heisserer walked into his acting class and found the names Tracy Salter and Brian White on his class roster. Tracy went on to receive her MFA degree in acting and three years ago joined the Graceland faculty. Brian White went on to receive his doctoral degree in English and he too subsequently joined the Graceland faculty. Gary, Tracy and Brian will once again join forces in the theater department’s next production of Becky’s New Car. The cast also features Troy Lauduski as Joe, Braden Austin as Chris, Mim Sarre as Kenni, Spencer Bergman as Steve, and Claire McClain as Ginger.
Becky’s New Car is a romantic comedy about a woman who finds herself caught up in middle age, middle management, a middling marriage and no prospects for change on the horizon. This changes radically when Becky strikes up a relationship with a grief-struck, eccentric millionaire. Becky gets a crack at nothing short of a new life. Becky’s new car is a thoroughly original comedy with some serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp, down a road seldom taken.
The play will be performed in the JR Theatre March 6 – 8 at 7:30 p.m., and March 9 at 2 p.m.. All tickets are five dollars, and all tickets are general admission. Tickets are available at the Shaw Ticket Office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – noon and 1 – 4 p.m., by calling 784-641-5296, and online HERE.
