On Friday, October 13, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig visited Graceland’s Lamoni campus, spending time with students and alumni from the Agricultural Business program.
Secretary Naig began the visit by meeting with Graceland students from the Agricultural Business program and the very active Ag Business Club, including President Cydney Stables, Co-Vice Presidents Noah Hughes and Justin McCaulley, and Public Relations Representative Kendell Gayon.
Graceland President Patricia Draves, Vice President for Academic Affairs Joel Shrock, and members of the faculty were joined by recent Graceland graduates of the Agricultural Business program who work throughout Iowa in various industries related to agriculture.
Draves said, “We are always thrilled to showcase Graceland’s successful academic programs, especially those like Agricultural Business, which continue to innovate in their partnership with the community, businesses, and students.”
Associate Professor Emeriti Max Pitt helped organize the visit and gave the Secretary a view of Graceland’s agricultural test plot, where students get hands-on experience in crop and soil management.
Pitt said, “It was a privilege to host the secretary at Graceland. Secretary Naig not only advocates for agriculture but also embraces the contribution that Iowa’s universities bring to our state and to the world.”
