Mary Shawgo Accompanies Science Majors as They Present at University of Northern Iowa

Graceland University Associate Professor of Biology Mary Shawgo, PhD, took her senior research students to the Iowa Academy of Science 131st annual meeting Saturday April 27, held at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where they presented their capstone research project Shawgo mentored. Over 200 college and high students participated in this annual event by offering poster or oral presentations. Biology/chemistry double majors Karli Smith ’19 and Rebecca Hoerres ’19 presented their research entitled, “Sulforaphane Induces Cell Death in Jurkat T Lymphocytes.” Biology/chemistry double majors Savea Hull ’19 and Sydney Dorrance ’19 presented their research entitled, “Antibiotic Resistance in Chicken Microbiota.”
