The Music Department has announced this year’s winners of the Anthony-Hyde Scholarship Competition.
In first place with an award of $2,000 is Will Allen King, a senior from Sperry, Okla. A lyric tenor, he has been a featured soloist for major Community of Christ broadcasts in 2002, ’04, ’05, ’07, and ’10, as well as Graceland’s productions of Händel’s “Messiah” and Haydn’s “Creation.” King has performed in two productions with the Tulsa Opera, as well as professional choirs in Bartlesville, Okla., and Adelaide, Australia. He plans to finish his undergraduate studies at Graceland next December, and then to continue with graduate studies in Vocal Performance. He has ambitions of eventually teaching studio voice at the collegiate level.
