Dr. Don Costello is a 40 year Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) member.
Dr. Don Costello will speak on the history and future of cryptography Monday, April 8, 8 – 9 p.m. in R. 106, Resch Science Hall.
Cryptography involves techniques for secure communication. The need for secure communication has become more critical with the increase in cyber-attacks against banks, businesses, military and government agencies.
The talk will include both historical and technical details, including the Enigma used by the Germans in WWII and broken by world-famous mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing, more recent developments that will play a key role in e-commerce, and new ways of doing business.
The event is sponsored by Graceland’s student chapter of ACM.
