Two School of Nursing students share their insights from a trip to Guatemala on the Kansas City Channel 5 news.
The Graceland University School of Nursing maintains a long-standing Guatemala connection that offers students practical experience on the ground in a developing country.
And nursing students Alaina Cornett and Allison Cook – pictured teaching in the title image [from the left] – would go back in a heartbeat.
On their recent trip to Guatemala accompanied by School of Nursing Interim Dean and Professor of Nursing Sharon Little-Stoetzel, PhD, and Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Nursing Jane Garrow, MSN, Cook and Cornett collected many lasting professional and personal impressions that have already made them better nurses.
They returned with a reinforced appreciation for what is often taken for granted in a developed nation, such as clean tap water, access to medical treatment, and the resources to provide basic health care.
