Preparing for the Sixth Annual Graceland University Agricultural Business/FFA Days has been an exciting time of year for the agricultural business program members. The first took place Wednesday, Sept. 21, and offered a full day of outdoor activities for visiting students. The final day, set for Thursday, Nov. 17, will focus on “Agriculture: Past, Present and Future” and will include special guests.
Ambassador Kenneth Quinn, President of the World Food Prize; Bill Northey, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture; and Richard Fordyce, Missouri Director of Agriculture will all be in attendance. This will be an ideal opportunity for students who are serious about pursuing answers to global hunger and food security issues.
Ag Business Day at Graceland offers leadership award opportunities and the chance to earn money for returning FFA chapters, as well as T-shirts and door prizes. Graceland University agricultural business students will also be present to answer questions and share the experience.
In addition to Graceland University, the DEKKO Foundation and the Davison family are providing funding for the 2016 Agricultural Business Days. Thanks to their generosity, Graceland is also able to offer schools reimbursement of at least part of their transportation costs and the cost to provide a substitute for the teacher attending with their students.
Schools or FFA chapters interested in sending students to attend the Nov. 17 Agricultural Business Day can contact Mares Persall in the C.H. Sandage School of Business at mares.persall@graceland.edu or 641.784.5170.
