Cindy Axne, U.S. Representative for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, visited Graceland’s Lamoni campus on Friday, February 25 as part of her 16-County Tour. Rep. Axne met with multiple members of the Graceland community, including several students, staff, faculty, and administration.
“I was thrilled to welcome Rep. Axne to Graceland to discuss both our priorities and hers,” said Graceland President Patricia H. Draves, PhD. “It’s very clear to me that she has the best interests of the people of Decatur County and our students at heart.”

During her visit, Axne heard from several students, all of whom expressed the immense benefit of financial programs like the unique Iowa Tuition Grant and the federal Pell Grant. She heard about Graceland’s agricultural business program from Max Pitt, MBA, associate professor of Business.
“It was so wonderful to be back at Graceland University to visit with some incredible students and faculty and get a glimpse at the beautiful facilities. Having played 5 on 5 girls’ basketball at this campus, I know just how important Graceland University is not only to its students but also the surrounding community.” – U.S. Representative Cindy Axne (IA-3)
Axne concluded her visit with a tour of the recently renovated Newcom Student Union and the Shaw Center for Performing Arts.
“I look forward to Rep. Axne’s next visit to our campus,” said Draves. “I know that our priorities are aligned and hope to see her again soon.”
