Scholarship Funds Now Available for England 2017

Graceland University has announced that students planning to enroll in one of the university-sponsored 2017 summer session course offerings in England this summer can apply for scholarship funds now available through the university.

Applicants must submit a written request for funds to Pat Hoffman in room #139 Patroness no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31. The request must include a short written statement (no more than 150 words) stating the student’s educational goal for enrollment in the course and must be signed by the student. Grants of $100.00 to $1,000.00 may be requested. Recipients of funds will be notified no later than 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 3.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. The student must be a full-time student who is in good academic standing and making satisfactory academic progress as determined by Graceland University.
  2. The student must demonstrate financial need by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFS), if not already filed, or other appropriate financial disclosure as determined by Graceland University.
  3. The student must be in good financial standing with the university.
  4. The student must be approved by the respective faculty member to enroll in one of the England courses.

Courses being offered in England for Summer 2017 are listed below.

  • Rebels, Superstars, and Rule Breakers: Artists + Activism in Contemporary Britain taught by Karen Gergely
  • British Cinema and Society taught by Dan Platt
  • The British Invasion: Exploring the History of Rock and Roll taught by Adam Groh
  • “We Shall Never Surrender:” Britain’s Role in the Second World War taught by Steve Glazer

Senior Jessica Pycior said of her experience in England during Summer 2016, “I feel I have the upper hand going into the world with the knowledge I gained on that trip. I have more intimate relationships with my peers and professors now. Seriously, it changed my life.”

With scholarship opportunities now available, faculty traveling to England this may are hoping even more students will have the chance to study abroad and change their lives as well.
