Graceland University Assistant Professor of English Tim Robbins, PhD, received the Graceland University Excellence in Teaching Award at the April 28, 2019, commencement ceremony, presented by Graceland Alumni Board President Michele Black.
Black’s words at the ceremony were as follows:
As the president of the alumni board, I take great pride in presenting the Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching. I’d like to invite Professor Tim Robbins to come to the stage. Since joining the Graceland faculty in 2015, Dr. Robbins immediately became a valuable member of our community. His students respect him and describe him as “a mentor who has proven time and time again to be an understanding, reliable and compassionate human being.”
Dr. Robbins graduated Summa Cum Laude from CUNY Hunter College and received his master’s and PhD in English from the University of Iowa. He is engaged in the Graceland community on multiple fronts, especially as an advocate and ally for equality and opportunity. Perhaps most importantly, one of his students declared that Dr. Robbins, “encouraged and fostered a classroom where students felt safe — safe to feel, safe to speak, and safe to be.”
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Tim Robbins, this year’s recipient of the Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching.
