A Earlier today, the University’s sponsoring church announced Graceland Board of Trustees Member Stassi Cramm, PhD, is called to be the next prophet-president of Community of Christ. Cramm holds a master’s degree from the Community of Christ Seminary at Graceland University and has been on the Board of Trustees since 2016, a post she assumed after serving as dean of the seminary.
When Graceland University was founded in 1895 by Community of Christ (then Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), the values of the church were imbued into the cornerstone of the institution. For over 125 years, Graceland has been closely aligned with the church through its shared values and its development of transformational leaders.
“I have been fortunate to work with President Cramm closely for several years, both in her role as a member of the First Presidency and as a trustee,” said Graceland President Patricia H. Draves. “Community of Christ is fortunate to have such an empathetic and deeply spiritual leader as their next prophet-president. Stassi has been an integral part of our Blue, Gold & Bold strategic planning and our commitment to radical belonging. I look forward to deepening our important work together for Graceland students.”
Cramm’s call to prophet-president will be presented for consideration at the 2025 Community of Christ World Conference. If approved and supported, she will be ordained at that time as the first female prophet-president of the church in its history.
“I am so grateful for President Veazey’s leadership of the church during my presidency at Graceland,” Draves shared. “I wish him continued healing and wisdom during this time of transition.”
