Director of Choral and Vocal Studies

Lauren D. Clark is the Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at the Graceland University. She conducts all choral ensembles and teaches applied voice lessons, as well as courses in music and social justice, aural skills, and general musicianship.

An active performer and teacher of music, Lauren prides herself on having experience working with choral ensembles, orchestras, and masterworks ensembles. Her clarity of gesture, efficient rehearsal technique, creative problem solving strategies, and positive attitude make her a sought-after ensemble leader. She is passionate about performing the works of living composers, considering herself the composer’s advocate on stage. Recently, she participated in the United States premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’s Moorland Elegies at Carnegie Hall. As a performer, Lauren has earned copious opportunities to sing and conduct all over the world. As a vocal soloist and chorister, she has sung in venues in the United States, Italy, Austria, Ireland, Israel, and South Korea. As a conductor, she has led numerous choral and orchestral ensembles across the United States.

Lauren is a candidate for the degree Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Choral Conducting and Pedagogy at the University of Southern Mississippi (Dr. Gregory Fuller), having earned a Master of Music (MM) in Choral Conducting from the University of South Carolina (Dr. Larry Wyatt) and an Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music from Rollins College with concentrations in choral/orchestral conducting (Dr. John Sinclair), as well as music composition (Dr. Daniel Crozier). Her former voice instructors include Dr. Tina Stallard, Rachel Calloway, Dr. Julia Foster, and Sonia Santiago. She is a member of the music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda, and women’s music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota.
