Patrick Gwamna grew up around higher education. His parents moved to the United States from Nigeria and spent their careers as professors. Gwamna and his brothers got used to having students and faculty around the house, either studying or for dinner. He was raised to prioritize education and connections, which he carries with him in his life.
A first-generation American, Gwamna graduated from Iowa Wesleyan University in 2016 with a degree in Visual Communications. As a student, he worked in the International Affairs office at the university to help international students acclimate to the campus culture. He also played football and was in both the choir and the band.
He brings career experience both in higher education and in corporate sales training and marketing.
I chose Graceland because it is the embodiment of what a prototypical, private liberal arts university should stand for. It is small but big in acceptance and culture. It’s the same type of university culture that raised me and my brothers when my parents were professors.
