Sharon Little-Stoetzel, RN, PhD, has been a nurse for over 30 years and has been teaching nursing for over 17 years. She takes great pleasure in teaching all levels of nursing students. Her clinical expertise is in intensive care nursing where she worked for 25 years, and has found a love and passion for cardiac rehabilitation where she has worked, p.r.n., for the last seven years.
Dr. Little-Stoetzel earned her BSN in 1984, at Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and her MSN at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1991. Her thesis is written on Rewards and Incentives That Keep RNs Retained at the Bedside. Completing her PhD in Nursing through the University of Phoenix, the title of her dissertation is ICU Healthy Work Environments: A Concept Analysis. Dr. Little-Stoetzel has been a staff nurse, travel nurse, and nurse manager in the ICU environment. She was previously the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs at Graceland and is currently Dean of Nursing for the university’s School of Nursing.
Dr. Little-Stoetzel teaches courses in the undergraduate pre-licensure, RN-BSN and master’s programs. She has assisted in the international experience for nursing students as they travel to Guatemala and is working hard on her Spanish, but her teacher reminds her frequently that it takes time!
Dr. Little-Stoetzel and her husband have two daughters and three dogs. They love to travel, are passionate about running/walking half marathons and love sports of all types.
