Professor Berdych teaches in the undergraduate nursing program in the on-campus and online program, and is also a clinical instructor for our students. Keeping direct connection to the bedside, while teaching in a classroom setting is a priority for Professor Berdych. She has been a lifelong learner, starting her nursing career as a Licensed Professional Nurse and then obtaining her additional three degrees, culminating with her Masters in Nursing, almost 25 years later. Her primary focus has been in Adult Health ranging from long-term care, sub-acute care, and acute cardiac care. Her passion in all care settings and roles has been the education and building up of those around her.
Wendy believes that empowering her patients, her team, and now her students by explaining the “why” behind things is what leads to real change and personal and professional well-being. Wendy’s goal is to make a difference in the lives of those around her and in her community. She feels that teaching with empathy, from a strong clinical background, and with a commitment to continue learning herself is the avenue to make this happen.
Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.
